Anticipation reached its peak as the eagerly awaited 69th National Film Awards were unveiled on Thursday, 24 August 2023 at 5 PM in Delhi. The prestigious event, a celebration of excellence in Indian cinema, came to the fore through a press conference broadcast live on PIB’s Facebook and YouTube channels.
280 films from 28 languages participated in the 2021 edition of the awards, competing in 31 categories for feature films, 24 categories for non-feature films, and 3 categories for screenplay writing on cinema.
In a triumphant performance at the 69th National Film Awards, Telugu legend Allu Arjun, Bollywood star Alia Bhatt, and the charismatic Kriti Sanon emerged as major winners.
The ‘Best Actor’ crown went to Arjun, who won appreciation for his stellar performance in the blockbuster ‘Pushpa’. Meanwhile, Bhatt achieved the Best Actress Award for her remarkable portrayal in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, and Sanon’s outstanding performance in ‘Mimi’ earned her a shared share of national acclaim with Bhatt.
RRR Continues to Rise in Glory
The grand cinematic masterpiece ‘RRR’ directed by director SS Rajamouli and starring Ram Charan and NTR bagged an impressive number of six awards at the event. These awards include Best Music Direction, Best Special Effects, Best Choreography, Best Action Direction, Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Best Male Playback Singer.
