R Madhavan has now shared his thoughts on his 3 Idiots co-stars Kareena Kapoor and Aamir Khan’s latest release Laal Singh Chaddha. R Madhavan revealed why his film Rocketry The Nambi Effect succeeded in pulling audiences off while Laal Singh Chaddha failed, during the launch of the teaser for his upcoming film Dhoka Round D Corner.
Laal Singh Chaddha, the big-ticket Bollywood film, even failed to cross the ₹50 crore mark in its first week of release. Laal Singh Chaddha has been added to the same failure list following the failure of big-budget films like Shamshera and Samrat Prithviraj.
The 52 year-old actor said, “If we knew (why Laal Singh Chaddha didn’t work), we would all be making hit films, honestly. Nobody starts making a film thinking that they’re making the wrong film. The intent and the hard work behind it is just as intense as it is with every film that an actor works on. So, for all the big films that have been released, their intent was to make a good film and make it work. I think the difference with my film was that I made a biopic so it is not time agnostic, it would have worked in any time, irrespective of whether it was pre-Covid or post-Covid or anything.”
He went on to say that in this post-pandemic world, audiences’ tastes in films have completely changed. He believes that because the audience has been exposed to world cinema, they will judge Bollywood films using that standard.

So, it’s no one’s fault, but I believe it will take us some time to pull up our socks and write screenplays that will work well in theatres,” he added.
The absolute dominance of South Indian Movies
On the other hand, South Industry movies are skyrocketing in terms of popularity and box office collection. From Vikram and KGF: Chapter 2 Chapter to RRR and Pushpa, they all have spread their magic on the big screen. On top of that, even the Hindi-dubbed versions of KGF: Chapter 2 to RRR have outperformed several Bollywood big starrer movies.

What R Madhavan thinks about the dominance of South Movies?
R Madhavan talked about the perception that south Indian movies are outshining Hindi Films wrong. The actor says that only a handful number of south films have done well, and you can’t call it a pattern or perception.
“As far as south films are concerned, Baahubali 1, Baahubali 2, RRR, Pushpa, KGF: Chapter 1, and KGF: Chapter 2 are the only south Indian films that have done better than movies with Hindi film actors. It is only six films, we can’t call it a pattern. If good films come, they’ll work.”
