Sony Liv is presenting Tanaav, a web series OTT, set against the backdrop of the 2017 Kashmir. It is a new web series with a similar assertive tone, with the incidents happening in Kashmir. It has twelve episodes starring Arbaaz Khan, Manav Vij, Arslan Goni, Ekta Kaul, and Summit Kaul.
Its new teaser begins with the traumatic eruption at one of the restaurants in Kashmir. After that shorts are ready to display characters with something or other in their minds. There is also a news headline that displays, “Kashmir Panther, Killed,” when there is nothing to say about the show, and in the end, a character is seen declaring, “Ye Kashmir hai, Yahan Kuch khatam nahi hone wala.”

Taanav: A Brief Review
In Kashmir, as the attacks of terrorists keep on increasing, a special force is sent to put a check on their activities. The team head first kills the terrorist leader and then takes retirement from the job. A few years later, one of their teammates approached him to inform him that the leader is not dead but alive and is going to plan something big with a mission to thwart the peace of Kashmir. The story revolves around the Special Secret Opts Unit and how courageously they face terrorists.
Tanaav is a socio-political drama with deeply embedded human complexities, intricate thoughts, feelings, and broken personalities. Almost all the characters share feelings of betrayal, love, loss, and revenge.
In the series, Shashank Arora is the actor to look out for. He displays acting skills that could land him in big-budgeted films. You will see these series for the first time on the Sony Liv OTT platform.
In the series of episodes, you will get to explore the emotions and human intricacies in the characters delving deep into the soul. An Indian story weaved authentically into the tightly-knit action-packed drama that displays people’s emotions.
Taanav is directed by Sudhir Mishra and Sachin Manta Krishna. The movie is like attempting to do the impossible without creating any mess or chaos. It is a hugely conflicting and dramatic movie involving both militants and the forces and is for the young Kashmiri boy and his friends to find out what is happening on screen and equally for the army major. This movie is for each one of us.
In the own words of Director Sachin Krishn, who says, “We were very clear that Tanaav could not be either overtly jingoistic or subtly anti-national in its approach. Yes, a case of trying to walk on eggs without having to break the shells. But that was a challenge we took up and decided to enjoy. With the story that eventually evolved, the audience will see the conflict affecting both sides – the militant and the forces – the way it does. If a young 22-year Kashmiri boy and his gang of friends can identify with what is unfolding on screen as much as an army major watching the show, we will have achieved this delicate balance.” (Reported in Forbes, Nov 14, 2022).
You will love to see Tanaav and find yourself engrossed in this heart-rendering web series that will again remind you of what all happened in Kashmir. A must-watch series.
