Manya Singh, Miss India 2020 runner-up recently become the most talked about name in our houses. As much as she is talented, her life-story is equally inspiring and has been making headlines since February 10, 2021.

The Femina Miss India 2020 beauty pageant had as its judges- Falguni Shane Peacock, Neha Dhupia, Chitrangada Singh and Pulkit Samrat. The eminent jury unanimously crowned Manasa Varanasi as Miss India World 2020 and Manika Sheokand as Miss Grand India 2020. But who has been grabbing all the limelight is Manya Singh who became Miss India 2020 runner-up.

In her Instagram post, Manya shared how she managed to get through all the struggles that came up in her journey. She wrote, “I’ve spent numerous nights without food and sleep. I’ve spent many afternoons walking for miles on end. My blood, sweat, and tears have amalgamated into courage to pursue my dreams. Being a rickshaw driver’s daughter, I never had the opportunity to attend school as I had to start working in my teens. All the clothes I had were hand-me-downs. I yearned for books, but luck wasn’t in my favour. Eventually, my parents mortgaged whatever little jewellery my mother had to ensure that I paid my exam fees in order to earn a degree.”

She further added, “My mother has suffered a lot to provide for me. At 14, I ran away from home. I somehow managed to complete my studies in the day, became a dishwasher in the evening and worked at a call centre at night. I’ve walked hours to reach places so I could save the rickshaw fare. I am here today at the VLCC Femina Miss India 2020 stage to uplift my father, my mother, and my young brother and to show the world that all is possible if you are committed to yourself and your dreams.”

Talking about her achievement, she told PTI in an interview, “I was scared to even dream of Miss India. I would often get goosebumps and feel how can someone like me carry this big a dream. But today when it has come true, there’s this sense of peace that I made it, that I’ve made my parents proud. I feel there’s a halo.”

Manya Singh is an inspiration to all those girls who dream about becoming a super-model. She always followed her heart but did not neglect the importance of family in the process.
