The Kerala Story which was released in May 2023 is soon to start streaming on the OTT platform. The movie produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah starring Adah Sharma got its sensational popularity at the box office.
The plot of the story is based on the topic of radicalization of Hindu and Christian women’s conversion and being forced to join ISIS. As per the reports, the movie made Rs.300 crore at the box office.
Now, it’s all set for its OTT premiere. The good news is that the data has also been announced. It will begin streaming from 16 February 2024. Taking to Instagram, Adah shared this exciting news with her fans.
She expressed her excitement in her words: “FINALLY!!! SURPRISE!! The most anticipated film is dropping soon on Zee5! #TheKeralaStory premieres on 16 February, only on #ZEE5.”
The Kerala Story Plot
The plot of the story follows the story of three girls: Nimah, Shalini, and Geetanjali who are manipulated by their roommate Asifa. The entire movie is divided into two different parts.
The first half shows and portrays that the girls are manipulated into converting to another religion.
The second half shows the journey of Shalini as Fatima Ba who’s a converted member of a terrorist group and her imprisonment in the Afghanistan region. This movie is inspired by the shocking incident that occurred between the years of 2018 and 2019 when a rising number of Kerala youth came under the influence of a terrorist group.
Adah Sharma’s Reaction on ‘The Kerala Story’ OTT Release
Adah shared her feelings on such exciting news, saying, “The courageous makers of The Kerala Story Vipul Shah and Sudipto Sen deserve to be applauded for having put in immense hard work to bring the film to life. After the stupendous success at the box office, creating history worldwide and making it the highest-grossing female lead film of all time, we are now looking forward to the film’s release on ZEE5.”
“The film’s collaboration with this global platform allows us to extend the reach of the film to a much wider audience. The audience who didn’t get a chance to watch the film in the theater and many who watched it and want to re-watch it are waiting with bated breath. Sudipo Sen had also spoken about how the makers of ‘The Kerala Story’ weren’t getting offers from OTT platforms, and they had been waiting for so long.
In a recent interview on Bollywood Hungama, he expressed himself saying, “We are still waiting for a good workable deal from any of the main OTT platforms. But so far, we have not got any offer worth considering. It seems the film industry has ganged up to punish us.”
The Major Controversy About This Movie
The Kerala Story movie had many controversies ahead of its release. The makers of this film claimed that it’s based on true events and also mentioned that 32000 women in Kerala were brainwashed and converted to Islam. Those women were made to join ISIS.
Because of that, this movie was banned in many states. But it looks like the prayers have been answered. The wait is officially over! The Kerala Story premieres on 16th February only on ZEE5.
